I know you think you’re a machine, but you’re not.
Shut it down and RELAX!
Life takes a lot of energy. People often push themselves to the limit day in and day out. Going that hard consistently will take its toll on the body.
You’ve been told before that to be successful you have to keep going. You hear statements like never quit, never give up and that motivates you to keep working, but don’t confuse the message.
Shutting down to recharge is not quitting, it’s more like hitting the pause button. It’s a strategic move to give yourself the strength that you need to keep moving forward.
You go, go, go all week and can’t figure out why you feel drained. Your body wears down mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically, it needs to recharge, rebuild and refresh.
If one of these areas is weak, it will affect the rest. Your being doesn’t act on just one realm at a time. For instance, in order to do a physical task, you have to think about what you want to do, believe you can do it and feel that it’s the right thing to do. In other words, it takes mental, emotional and spiritual energy to do something physical.
One thing to be sure of is that if don’t you give your body time to recuperate, it will shut down on it’s own.
You’ll start to feel drained, find it hard to concentrate, and it will become difficult for you to keep going. You may even get sick or worse — head towards depression. When the body is rundown, it is more susceptible to colds, flus and other ailments. The worse part is that once your body is at this point, it doesn’t have the strength to fight it.
Don’t make it hard on yourself. Listen to your body; it will tell you what it needs.
Take some time this weekend, chill out and let your body recharge. Find something that relaxes you, takes your mind off of things and go do it.
Maybe it’s as easy as just kicking back and watching a movie, catching up on sleep, hanging with the family, playing a round of golf or taking a day trip to one of your favorite places, whatever you decide to do, just make it fun and relaxing.
Don’t equate the need for rest as weakness. View it as a time of strengthening.
Give yourself permission to enjoy a day off. Refresh, rebuild, recharge and LIVE LIFE!
